More about this course
Advanced Pet First Aid Level 3 (VTQ) provides in-depth knowledge of the injuries and medical conditions that can affect both dogs and cats. This comprehensive course is designed for pet owners and pet professionals who want to develop the confidence and competence to recognise early signs of illness or injury and deliver appropriate first aid care promptly and effectively.
The course explores animal anatomy and physiology, helping learners understand how the body works and how this relates to common emergencies. It also covers a wide range of first aid treatments and management techniques for different situations. While many first aid principles apply to both species, the course includes a dedicated section focused specifically on cats, recognising their unique anatomy, behaviour, and care requirements.
This qualification is a ProTrainings Vocational Training Qualification (VTQ) and is ideal for pet professionals such as groomers, walkers, sitters, trainers, and veterinary support staff, as well as knowledgeable and responsible pet owners seeking advanced training.
The course can be completed in two flexible ways:
Online course – Complete approximately 6 hours of online learning through engaging video content. This option does not include a practical assessment. However, learners are strongly encouraged to complete a practical module locally with one of our approved instructors to reinforce skills and confidence. A practical module can be added at any time; for more information, please contact us or your local instructor.
Blended course – Combine the online learning module (approximately 6 hours) with a face-to-face practical module (approximately 6 hours) delivered locally by an approved instructor. The practical session allows learners to practise essential hands-on skills and scenarios, leading to the full qualification certificate upon successful completion.
This course comes with 7.0 hours of CPD, although the time to complete the course online may be less than this. Total course time includes 6 hours and 54 minutes of video training as well as knowledge reviews, final test, remedial help and reviewing downloaded material.
The content of this and all our courses has been independently certified as conforming to universally accepted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) guidelines and come with a Certified CPD Statement as well as a ProTrainings Certificate and for online courses an Evidence Based Learning statement.
